Chris Hare has been leading guided walks in Sussex for nearly twenty years. He is well known for his regular history articles in the West Sussex Gazette and the Worthing Sentinel. Chris lectures on local history subjects for the University of Sussex and Worthing College. He also gives talks to local societies and organisations.
Chris believes in bringing history alive with vivid descriptions, which take us back across the centuries, to the world of past generations. Chris has both a B.A.(Hons) and an M.A. in History, but never seeks to bore his listeners with academic solemnity. “I see myself more as a story-teller,” says Chris, “history for ordinary people, until quite recent times, was found in the oral tradition – stories of the past, carried on from one generation to the next. I take those stories and add to them the detail and verification that archives and archaeology can provide.” If you have a question for Chris, about his walks, talks, or his traditional singing, you can contact him by email, via this site or telephone him on 07794 600639. |
