| WALKS | Old Worthing The Swan | TALKS | ||||
|   The Swan was modernised in 1938, but in essence it remains a Georgian building, one of the few survivals of Worthing’s pre-resort days. The public house opposite, now known as the Jack Horner, was until recent times known as The Anchor, one of Worthing’s oldest pubs. The inquest into the death of William Cowerson the smuggler was held here in 1832. The present building however dates from the 1920s. |

|   Box Cottage is probably even older than The Swan. Although the windows on the front of the cottage were probably added in the early twentieth century, the nature of the brick work, coupled with the “hipped” roof dates this building to the eighteenth century at least. |
