  The parish church of St. Mary de Haura, or “Mary of the sea,” is a reminder of Shoreham’s strong nautical connections and also that it was the Norman French who established “New Shoreham” after their successful invasion of 1066. |

  The Marlipins public house derives its name from the ancient medieval stone building which appears in the left of this photograph. This was once the customs house of Shoreham and was a symbol of the wealth and importance of Shoreham in medieval times. |
