WALKS Tarring Church Meet Here TALKS

Sunday 11th May 2:30pm Meet by the lych gate,St.Andrew’s Church. St.Andrew’s Church dates back to Norman times. One sixteenth century vicar, unfrequented with “brotherly love,” murdered one of his parishoners.
Tarring Church
Once one of the wealthiest manors in the county, West Tarring was dominated by the Church, with the Bishop’s Palace being a residence for many influential clerics, including St. Richard of Chichester. We will also explore the historic gems of Tarring High Street.

Tarring High Street is a unique survival in the Borough of Worthing: one street where nearly every building is over two hundred years old. Some date back to medieval times, including the Parsonage restaurant. Note the inn sign of the George and Dragon, why do you think it is welded into an upright position? This walk will provide the answer.
